1985 Burmester Vintage Port

Post by John M. »

This is the second bottle tasted from a lot recently acquired at auction. This one was opened 2.5 hours only until we tasted it (needs more time than that). Generous nose on opening, a bit more muted when time to taste--lots of raspberry and blossoms. The first tastes showed ample cherry and linzer but with a rough, earthy finish that within 15 minutes of being in the glass mellowed out and then the finish was fine (hence the reccomended longer decant time). A nice, yet not too complex VP that is drinking very well right now. A 1985 to drink now while those Fonsecas and Grahams age some more.
I thought this bottle was a little better than the first (tasted 8/2020) yet my scores are similar.

Thanks for the note. I have several of these and I'll start opening them up. [cheers.gif]
