NV Maynard’s 20 years old tawny port

Post by Rune EG »

This product was launched in Norway November 2019 and it became an instant success. First 12 months it has sold 17 070 bottles, which is a huge amount in the Norwegian port market. It is the no. 4 of all ports sold in Norway. Winemaker: Alvaro van Zeller.

50 cl. Bottled 2020. Decanted 2 hrs. Grapes: Touriga Franca 30%, Touriga Nacional 20%, Tinta Roriz 20%, Tinta Barroca 10%, other grapes 20 %. Medium redbrown colour (nearly transparent). Aroma of citrus, wood and herbs. Full body. Powerful taste dominated by citrus, burnt sugar/caramel, herbs and nuts. Pleasant tannins. Nice acidity/sweetness-balance. Long aftertaste 90 pts.

It's a great port as well as their 10 year. The 30 year tastes like a 100 tawny, lol.

We get them in 750's in a tin tube like Scotch for US market. For the price, nothing can compete and in an absolute sense is among of the best 10 & 20's on the market.
