Ohhh--Crasto LBVs are a favorite....super QPR.Moses Botbol wrote: ↑Wed Oct 28, 2020 11:36 amOur Costco was carrying it for many years and may still carry it. I bought so much of the '05 and '07, I don't ever want to see another bottle! They were giving away the Crasto LBV for a short run too.

When I first got the case I wasn't a big fan, but they have turned for the better and glad I picked them up. 2011 vintage

I got a case of halves (2011 Crasto LBV) a year or two (or three?) ago. They make great cellar defenders. I think I'm down to 5 bottles left.Moses Botbol wrote: ↑Mon Nov 02, 2020 6:06 amWhen I first got the case I wasn't a big fan, but they have turned for the better and glad I picked them up. 2011 vintage

The 1985 Smith Woodhouse is very nice.
It has for years been my "safe vintage port" if/when we experience that a vintage port that we intended to serve guests is not behaving like it should be (shortly before guests are arriving). This 1985 SW has never failed to deliver.

It is very consistent and always a pleasant, easy drinking Port. This case came at an excellent price, too, which is why I simply couldn't resist.Rune EG wrote: ↑Mon Nov 23, 2020 4:14 am The 1985 Smith Woodhouse is very nice.

It took me 10+ years to find some! It's our anniversary year so I've always been on the lookout, but have never been lucky until this weekend.

Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?
Yep, all of the above were from Winebid. I thought the price was quite good seeing as it was no more than you'd pay for a 1985 Graham or Fonseca, and that's including the buyer's premium. Given the quality and rarity of TV87 I'd have gone considerably higher to get these 2 bottles.Eric Menchen wrote: ↑Mon Nov 23, 2020 11:02 amWas this at winebid? I recall seeing some there. I have one in the cellar and didn't feel like I needed another at their price, on top of a packed cellar.

+1 for me as well. Cutting back buying as o need to drink down to make space. Perhaps Glenn will be nice and open one blind for us one day to make us guess what it is then laugh when we all get it wrong.

Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?
Wow! I'm still looking...
I walked into a store on a whim about 2 years ago because it was close to where I had an offsite work meeting. Staring me in the face were 3 1987 Taylor Vargellas at a ridiculous price. I bought 2 and left one for John M. (not sure if he ever snagged it). I picked up another at auction a little while back. I saw them on Winebid last week but I figured it would turn into a bidding war so I didn't bother. It took me 10+ years to find some! It's our anniversary year so I've always been on the lookout, but have never been lucky until this weekend.
I did bid on the 1980 Dow this week.
