Wow! I'm still looking...
It took me 10+ years to find some! It's our anniversary year so I've always been on the lookout, but have never been lucky until this weekend.
I walked into a store on a whim about 2 years ago because it was close to where I had an offsite work meeting. Staring me in the face were 3 1987 Taylor Vargellas at a ridiculous price. I bought 2 and left one for John M. (not sure if he ever snagged it). I picked up another at auction a little while back. I saw them on Winebid last week but I figured it would turn into a bidding war so I didn't bother.

I did bid on the 1980 Dow this week.
I placed a substantial bid, but was the only bidder so I got them for the minimum of $80 plus b.p.

These will likely be opened for "significant" anniversaries... likely 40 and 50. We're at 33 this year. ;-)

Was this at winebid? I recall seeing some there. I have one in the cellar and didn't feel like I needed another at their price, on top of a packed cellar.
+1 for me as well. Cutting back buying as o need to drink down to make space. Perhaps Glenn will be nice and open one blind for us one day to make us guess what it is then laugh when we all get it wrong.
Nah, don’t stop buying, just rent another locker. Then you can buy lots more.

3 x 1997 Smith Woodhouse VP's

Had to get them as they fit my purchase strategy and were only 49$ each.

Niepoort has disappeared from our market in MA. I would buy those for the same reason!

2 x Quinta da Pacheca 40 year old Tawny.

I finally found these in the States. I previously had the 20 y.o. version and it was an excellent tawny so I'm hoping these represent well. They get delivered Saturday morning. I may pop one open Saturday evening.

1 x 1977 Dow Vintage Port 375 ml
4 x 1997 Dow Vintage Port
1 x 1970 Grahams Vintage Port 375 ml
3 x 1985 Grahams Vintage Port

All at auction. I did ok with the pricing on these too. Of these, I've only bought the 85 Grahams before at Auction and I am pretty sure I paid significantly more last time around.

Those are some nice Ports. And you're lucky that you got those '85 Graham's at a lower price. Here in the States, it seems like auction prices are going up. It's harder to snag bargains, but I keep looking. [cheers.gif]

I think I just got a bit lucky in the lead up to Christmas. It's usually a pretty crazy time of year and a Sunday auction might not have drawn the attention that it normally would. The 85 Grahams is my favorite realistically available port so it was great to pick some more of that up. I'm pretty happy about the 97 Dow too - I have 91s and 94s from Dow and I had very few 97s from anywhere. Our retail pricing is pretty terrible for Port - the 2017 at retail is over twice the price I paid for the 85s at auction

+12 as well. Great op indeed. I'm looking forward to them shipping in the spring.
