Eric,
What is your opinion of the '77 Terrantez?

I had a bottle quite some time ago, but I do not remember much. It was my first sampling and my expectations were high due to the rarity. I do remember being underwhelmed.

Plus, how does the '77 compare to the '71? I believe that I have had both, but not at the same time and far enough apart (and long enough ago) that I have no idea how they compare. Are either really worth the $250-$350 asking price?

I got mine awhile ago. I think both the 71 and 88 are better. Still, it's pretty classic and needs a lot of air to show it's best. I'd rather buy the 88 right now.

1993 D'Oliveras Boal

I thought I had purchased a bottle some years ago, but I can't seem to find my notes (and in doing so, I see my journal is waaaaay out of date). I see that we tasted it on the 2016 Fortification tour, but opted for the '92 malvazia among other selections.

The wine is still opening up, but even though it is young it was very good. Until recently, we had been drinking a Taylor Fladgate 20 Year Tawny, but my first sips of this '93 had good acidity and very nice finish by comparison. Prior to the TF, we had an '86 Faja dos Padres malvazia.

I might be confusing this '93 with a '93 Barbeito that I purchased on the tour. I seem to recall that the Barbeito came in a 500ml bottle (I will have to check my wine bottle library in storage).

Well, now that the '93 is open, I will have to partake as I get my wine journal updated!

1928 Leacock EEL Verdelho.
Bit lean when first opened, will see how it develops in decanter.

Thanks for the advice. I’ve always loved the ‘71, enjoying a glass of it right now. Just picked up a ‘88 per your recommendation.

These Justino's Colheitas (1996, 1997, 1998) are a fantastic value. I always have a few in my cellar.

I have had both and both were memorable. Alex Liddell calls the '22 a "reference wine" - 5*. I am saving my '22 for my retirement on 1 / 27 / 2022! Can't wait!

Has been open for only 3 days yet - it clearly needs air. Was very good last night, but it feels like it is still in the improvement phase.

I want to drink it on the 31st - seems a good way to celebrate 2020 coming to a close.

I've been trying to find one of those at a reasonable price... I hope yours lives up to its legendary reputation!
