I was unaware that Niepoort was producing a red wine exclusively for the Germany market : Fabelhaft. The label relates a german fable.
A friend of mine brought it as a surprise during the Niepoort tasting I held last friday. Its an easy drinking wine not unlike quality Beaujolais. You can see the label at this URL.

Any German who can tell us what the fable is about?

Tom, of course Fabelhaft is not a great wine, but for 8euros it is very honest. Every company has to hit different market with different products. What should Niepoort do with modest its quality grapes? Sell it or distill it? No instead he makes a good product in the price range that is an introduction to Douro dry wines. Like in every company you have to make profits with every square inch you own.
