1985 Fonseca. This bottle came down on the "gorgeously mature" side of what seems to be a Port in transition (some bottles are still very young and somewhat closed) and was so delicious that 2 of us drank the entire bottle in about 3 hours. And then drank half a bottle of 1976 Kopke Colheita.

I don't think it's possible to own too much of this Port.

I feel that way about the '94 Fonseca as well. I own a lot of both.

I should own more of the '94 than I do, but it's just so much more expensive than the '85 that I have difficulty rationalizing the purchase.

I've been getting relatively better deals on the '94 Fonseca than the '85 lately. Yes, the '94 is more expensive but I've been averaging around $110 a bottle on the '94 which is much less than the going price, whereas I'm seeing prices in the mid $90's for the '85. So relatively speaking I'm getting better deals at auction on the '94 for a much better Port.

I just bought a couple of Fonseca 1994 (375ml and 750ml) at a good price i think... not a deal but not bad.
Around 112$... for the 375ml and 225$ for 750ml.
For comparaison i had one bottle of F94 (750ml) at 200$ in 2015 and some TF94 in an auction at 225$ each in 2014.
When i check auction i sometimes see TF and Fonseca 1994 sold around 250$-260$.

1996 Calem Quinta Da Foz. It's a nice bottle of Port. Not a world beater but very drinkable.

I opened a bottle of Warre Cavadinha 1996 last night and described it in almost the same way — thoroughly enjoyable but not a world beater.

1997 Skeffington VP. It was a nice Port, but I'm not sure how long it will hold together in the decanter. 90 last night. Let's see how it is tonight.

This improved over the past few days. A nice bottle of Port. I'd give it a 91 overall.
