1986 Quinta do Noval Colheita port

Post by Rune EG »

Bottled 2015 (= 29 yrs at bottling). Decanted 2 hrs. Slightly oxidized. Dark brown colour. Aroma of citrus, plenty of nuts and unfortunately a touch of alcohol. Full body. Taste was “big” and elegant including nuts, citrus with minerals and wood in the background. Alcohol also in the taste. Nice tannins. Long aftertaste with mix of citrus and some undefined sweet taste (possibly caramel). Acidity building up. This was slightly disappointing. 88 pts.

I've had this as well and was also underwhelmed by it. One thing I have noticed is that in general Noval's tawny's tend to do better as close to the bottling date as possible.
