Selling Madeira from 1834 and 1863

Post by Rune EG »

SELLING MADEIRA FROM 1834 AND 1863
Back in 2002 the Norwegian Wine Monopoly offered the following:
- Barbeito Malvazia 1834
- Barbeito Boal 1863
I purchased one bottle of 1834 and one bottle of 1863.
Neither Emmy (my wife) nor I have found interest in Madeira. We have come to the conclusion that we are not able to appreciate the expected high quality.

Bottles were imported to Norway by the importer Winetailor AS (same agency is importer of Niepoort in Norway) and then moved over to the Norwegian Wine Monopoly (= only sales channel to consumers). After having purchased the bottles they have been stored in our temperature-controlled wine cellar in our house, always in the dark. They are both in pristine condition.
According to the Wine Monopoly they were bottled for this introduction to the Norwegian market.

We have decided to sell them.
Could this be of interest for Madeira-lovers on this Forum?
We will try as best as we can to go to Portugal after the summer 2021, and maybe we can meet there to deliver the two old madeiras?
