1984 Caves Messias Quinta do Cachão Vintage Port

Post by Eric Menchen »

The first hit of aroma was dried fig along with some chemical. The colot looks like a 20+ year old tawny, orange brown with reasonable clarity, but also with bits of dark sediment in the bottom of my glass. Swirling reveals some funky dank aromas, and then some fruit fighting to show through. It smell a little like a waxy, soapy strawberry. The body is very light, and the tannins are gone. The acidity is fairly light as well. There is some fruit flavor, but overall it has more of a light sugar syrup flavor. It tastes like a mediocre tawny. 87 points.
