Caves Messias 10 Year Old Tawny

Post by Eric Menchen »

Aromas of wood and caramel, hiding some strawberry, along with a hint of maple syrup. There may be some invert sugar as well. The color is red-brown, with good clarity, but not crystal clear. This seems more like a Douro/Portuguese tawny, not British.Light bodied with lots of sugar flavors, light brown sugar, caramel, toffee, vanilla, and crème brûlée. There is a little bit of dried apricot flavor too. There was more of the Douro bake aroma later, which wasn’t a good thing in this case. 90 points.
