1985 Smith Woodhouse vintage port

Post by Rune EG »

I like to have this VP in the cellar, as it require relatively short decanting time and works well as a back-up bottle if another VP is no good.
Opened a new OWC. Decanted 3 hrs which worked well. Deep dark red, nearly black. When pouring we could see indications of brown. Pleasant fruity aroma, slightly on the sweet side. Full body. Taste is powerful, plenty of berries, in the background some strawberries. Slightly sweet, but not too much. Hint of humid cellar. OK acidity/sweetness-balance. Nice tannins. Medium to long aftertaste. 91 pts.

Takk Rune. I am used to it being a beast - a big angry wine that needs time in the decanter. I'll pull one from my collection soon. [cheers.gif]
