NV Pacheca 20 Year Old Tawny Port

Post by John M. »

Recently purchased, bottled in 2020. From a 500 ML bottle. Deep burnt orange color and in the bottle was opaque but in the glass somewhat clear (odd hence the mention). Definite citrus aromas. This was tasted with a dessert of a light almond cake and the pairing could not have been better. The Port had the flavors of toasty oranges tending towards tangerine, incredible balance, occasional caramel, vanilla and light acidity. Instantly this went to the top tier of best 20 TWAIOA Ports IMHO.

Good note and spot on, John. This is one of my favorite 20 y.o.'s as well. I also get a strong taste of butterscotch on the palate.

On one of Roy's tours, we tasted the 10, 20, 30, and 40 at the property. The 10 was distinctly disappointing, and the 20 a major step up as I recall.
