Could be? My memory isn't what it used to be.Eric Menchen wrote: ↑Thu Oct 27, 2022 9:11 pmIsn't that the one I pointed you to, and pointed out that it was for two bottles?Glenn E. wrote: ↑Thu Oct 27, 2022 12:21 pm I just received an auction lot that I won earlier when shipping wasn't advisable. I thought that I'd slightly over-paid for it, but because it was a birth year wine - and a pretty good one at that - I was satisfied.
Turns out, the auction lot was for 2x bottle. So I didn't over-pay at all, and instead got:
2 x 1964 Taylor Single Harvest Tawny
for (IIRC) $300.![]()

Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?
My buying is starting to move into the 1990s as the Ports I've been buying from the mid-80s have crept up over $100/bottle.

Glenn, what were you buying in the way of '80's Ports? I assume the Graham's '85 and maybe "83. Fonseca '85 and maybe the Dow's '80? Are their other bottles besides those that you were looking at that have crept over $100?

Mainly those, though the price for Gould Campbell and Smith Woodhouse during that era have also gone up quite a bit.Mike J. I wish I could find 1980 Dow or Warres. Then I could think about price. Those are both rare in my shopping.Mike J. W. wrote: ↑Tue Nov 01, 2022 3:42 pm ... maybe the Dow's '80? Are their other bottles besides those that you were looking at that have crept over $100?

Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?
I only see the Dow's '80 at auction. I buy it when I can. I did actually buy 1 Warre's '80 at a B&M in North Jersey about a year ago. The price was a little high (about $120 after tax), but the bottle was in pristine shape and I never, ever saw it at a store before.Eric Menchen wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 11:26 amI wish I could find 1980 Dow or Warres. I bought 5 bottles of '80 Warre's for $45 a bottle about 6 months ago on a private sale. Drank them all.Mike J. W. wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 4:20 pm I only see the Dow's '80 at auction. A "friend of a friend" that isn't so big into port had them. A couple had brittle corks, but at that price... A nice change of pace from the Maynard's 10 we usually drink during the week.

Agreed, you definitely can't pass them up at a price like that.Moses Botbol wrote: ↑Fri Nov 04, 2022 6:46 amA "friend of a friend" that isn't so big into port had them. A couple had brittle corks, but at that price... A nice change of pace from the Maynard's 10 we usually drink during the week.

1 x 1977 Messias Colheita
1 x 1980 Messias Colheita
Both bottled 2018. I had won these on auction from WineBid, but they were advertised as Vintage Ports. I suspected that they were both Colheitas based on the photos they posted and I was right.

A mom and pop liquor store near me has 2000 Fonseca for $75 and 2003 Dow for $48 if I want to pick up what is remaining. Only a handful of each. Just need to get over there and collect them. ![Pointless [dash1.gif]](./images/smilies/dash1.gif)
