Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?
A raft of 2016s went under the hammer in the UK yesterday, I picked up a six pack each of Fonseca and Croft.
Not good news for the vendors - after taking off the sale commission from the auction house, they will have lost roughly half their original investment - more if you add in the storage cost.

2016 Quinta da Romaneira VP
And one mixed Lot ($40/750ml all-in):
1995 Smith Woodhouse Madalena VP x2
1995 Quinta do Vesuvio VP x2
1997 Fonseca VP Magnum
I love you guys' pointers, people out here forking it over for weak vintages of Taylor and Noval, and I am buying the sneaky good stuff for half as much.

I was eyeing up that very lot as a matter of fact, but I never placed a bid. Nice win, you'll enjoy all of them.Lucas S wrote: ↑Mon Dec 12, 2022 9:03 pm 2016 Quinta da Romaneira VP

Thanks Mike. Hopefully it'll be good. If you hadn't extolled the virtues of the '95 SW Madalena, I wouldn't have bid. There's a bit of a bidding war on WineBid atm for some Madalenas as well but I'm not bidding.Mike J. W. wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 1:26 pm

Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?
I have a bid on two of the '95 SW Madalena over on Winebid. My bid's low so it might not hold up. Someone had bid on two of them already so I split my bid between the 2 lots.Lucas S wrote: ↑Fri Dec 16, 2022 4:37 amThanks Mike. Hopefully it'll be good. When you open the Madalena, give it a long decant.

2003 Quinta do Infantado VP x2
2003 Rozes LBV
I was last second sniped out of a lot of '91 Croft, which was unexpected, but keeping some dry powder is just as well.

Lol. Something like that...lucky at the auction. The auction closed on Christmas night and I think most bidders were distracted.
