This bottle was part of an auction lot that was not in great shape to start with when we got it, probably 6-7 years ago. Capsule was half gone, cork looked dried out, and the level was below neck. It was listed appropriately by the auction house so there was no surprise. I put it in a corner of the cellar and forgot about it. Today I did some spring cleaning of the cellar and noticed that it was leaking, luckily not on anything else! My curiosity got the better of me so I decanted what was left (less than half the bottle) just to see what almost 70 years would reveal.
It looked like a classic old tawny in color, and still had a pleasant if muted nose. When we tasted it it was a very nice drink! It still had some dried fruit and strawberry sweetness with a nice medium length finish. It didn't have the richness or nuttiness of a wood aged port but of course there was no wood! There were no harsh or unpleasant flavors at all. We were both pleasantly surprised. I have no idea how to score it. I'm glad I didn't just toss it out!

Re: 1945 Grahams
I had a couple of those, and have recently added a couple more, so I'm happy to hear that they're tasty!
