1991 Ferreira VP
This bottle had HEAVY label condition issues, apparently due to high humidity. The cork and seal were in good shape despite a somewhat cracked capsule. Cork was tightly fit but extraction went well with my two-pronged corkscrew.
Medicinal strawberry aroma with brief decant, pleasant hint of cinnamon.
Almost fully translucent, Maraschino cherry red.
Bloody, spicy entrance - seems to come in hot, but spirit does not linger - well-integrated.
Longish finish but fairly vapid in the middle. Austere caramel apple, toffee, and melon notes.
It seems like the fruit body is essentially gone but hasn’t been replaced by much else.
Very few tannins left, should be at a plateau for a while longer but at 33 it's surely as ready as it's going to get.
I would drink it again, but I would say it's not really worth buying more.

Was surprised to see no notes for this, none on theportforum either. They did a 1991 horizontal without it.
edit: this improved significantly over the following couple days, with more body showing. Upped it to a solid 90.
