We had a blackout here locally a couple of days ago. It began around noon and ended the next morning around 3 a.m. or so. I got so bored, I left my house and found pretty much all of Sammamish in the black. I drove to Redmond and lights were on, so I went to see a movie, the new James Bond. The past couple of Bond flicks have been weak, but this one actually was pretty darn entertaining. It had been a LONG time since I'd had popcorn and soda, but the fifth and final Daniel Craig portrayal of Bond in: No Time To Die ... was worth seeing.

Has anyone seen the new film on FERRARI?

I wish! The last racing themed films I watched were Ford vs Ferrari (2019) and Rush (2013) and found both movies entertaining. I read a few reviews for the new Ferrari film which all mentioned a strong theme of Corporate greed (or the greed of Enzo Ferrari) vs the life/safety of individuals. I'm interested to know how hard that theme gets forced on the viewer while watching the film. The last film I saw in the theater (and the first I saw in theater since 2018) was Haunting in Venice which I enjoyed. Haunting in Venice seemed to have a more engaging balance than Kenneth Branagh's previous two Agatha Christie based films. I also ponied up the rental fee to watch the latest Mission Impossible film on streaming last week....not much to say other than if you've enjoyed the previous Mission Impossible films then you should enjoy the newest film more-or-less the same.

I checked out "Nanook of the North" this afternoon and was pleasantly surprised - my first silent film and really enjoyed it.Eric Ifune wrote: ↑Sat Mar 21, 2009 5:39 pm Have you ever seen the original documentary "Nannook of the North?" Facinating stuff and has aged well from the 1930's. Also sad when one knows that the heroic Nannook died only a few years later, starving on an ice flow.

Here in Porto, Netflix started showing YELLOWSTONE, the series, last month. I get to the end of season 4, and there was no season 5. I was really miserable because I loved the show and couldn't believe they did not offer the last season. A friend from the USA told me he thinks there is actually a season 6 coming too. Can anyone confirm this?

The last I read, there will be no season 6 of Yellowstone. Right now, nothing is planned for releasing Season 5 on Netflix. I imagine it'll happen sometime in the future, but as to when, nothing has been announced.
If you're looking for a good series to watch on Netflix, there's one called Dark Winds. It was originally on AMC, but Netflix is streaming it. It's only 2 seasons so far (Season 3 gets released on AMC this month and Season 4 comes out in 2026 on AMC) but it's very well done. There's a good British Crimes series called Broadchuch (3 seasons with David Tennant and Olivia Coleman) that's streaming on Amazon, Tubi, and Pluto TV. Another good one is a Danish crime thriller series (1 season) streaming on Netflix called The Chestnut Man. And finally, there's a South Korean crime series (1 season) on Netflix called My Name which I liked a lot as well.
