1985 Ferreira vintage port

Post by Rune EG »

This vintage port was purchased at a Norwegian auction. Being 40 yrs it was a gamble. It was lighter brown than expected. Touch of red colour. Slightly oxidized, but still drinkable. Interesting aroma consisting of herbs and something sweet. Towards the end of the aroma anis was detectable. Full body. The taste was rather powerful and rich. Acidity/sweetness was well made. Good long “polished” tannins. In general, it was a round style. Dryness towards the end. The hint of the anis in the aroma at the beginning, was also there at the end. Medium to long aftertaste. Unfortunately, I had one bottle only. 92 pts.

Another Ferreira not seen very often. Too bad it was slightly oxidized. But otherwise sounds like it was still a decently good bottle?
