I was organising some bottles in my cellar this afternoon, taking bottles on this year’s drinking list out of part empty cases.
It was a bit of a surprise when I took this out of a case of Vesuvio 1990. I didn’t know I had any of these bottles left. This is probably the bottle of Port that I’ve owned for the longest - slightly more than half my lifetime!

Re: What Unopened Bottle Have You Had in Your Cellar the Longest?
Mine hasn't changed! From the old thread:
I also still have at least a couple of bottles of 1997 (? might be 1994) Broadbent VP that I bought from Roy. If I remember the story correctly, they were supposed to go to Moses but those 2 never got together to exchange them, so I took them off his hands instead. Those also would have been very early in my Port drinking, so probably 2007 or 2008.
At this point I may never drink these 2 bottles. Just... because. I have much nicer Port to drink now, so keeping these as memories or souvenirs of an earlier time is more fun than actually drinking them.Glenn E. wrote: ↑Wed Nov 08, 2017 6:22 pm I have a 1977 Royal Oporto VP and a 1970 Martinez VP that were purchased at the same time. I don't remember exactly when off the top of my head, but they were among the first bottles of VP that I bought over the internet and the purchase was probably in 2007 or 2008.

We have only been building our cellar since 2015. Several bottles remain from my first purchases that year. The most memorable ones that are still in the cellar are a few bottles of 1970 Dow's and 1970 Fonseca. I can report that the Fonseca is drinking wonderfully and it seems it could live forever.
