Alan,
If the independence comes with our oil then paying the bills won't be a problem 8)
But, seriously, England is not in the centre of the universe - you really do need to start believing that. I know it must be difficult to accept after hundreds of years of being told otherwise but the truth is that everyone else has known about it since time began :?

Derek,
Dont worry, we've spent most of your oil reserves, you can have whats left. And even the SNP say that we pay more to Scotland than we get out.
And dont get me going on the bit about your MP's voting on our issues and we dont on yours!!! (I'll understand that one day!!!)
All I can say...is its a good job your not Welsh!
Alan.
Disclaimer. I apologise to any celts without a sense of humour.

Alan,
I think it is only right that there is some independance in the voting on English issues. As you know the Scots are a very fair and impartial race and we like to give our neighbours the benefit of our wisdom without thought of reward or recognition. After all, left to your own devices you come up with things like the Poll Tax and grass that can be ripped up and taken north too easliy.
We are here to help. You only have to ask nicely.

Alan,
I have the benefit of being multi-racial. At least half of my genes are Irish. The other half is a mixture of lowland Scots and perhaps an 8th English.
Family rumour has it that a distant female relative was impregnated by a member of the Spanish Armada - aparently this is where the dark hair, brown eyes and sallow skin comes from.
Derek (or is it Alex, Patrick or Jose?)
PS: I only have 5 toes on each foot

Well....if its confession time....I had my ancestry traced, and it went back to the Irish Potatoe Famine. There are no records beyond that, unless your Irish Gentry.
So I hail from Irish peasant stock moving from the Emerald Isle around 1841 and settling in St.Helens.
Scary fact
Since that time, at least one of the Males from my family line, over that 160+ years, has lived within 2 miles of where I currently live.
Suppose I better take my socks off and count my toes!

You guys are great sports and funnier than heck.
If you want confessions...
Dad and my Grandpa were English, My grandma was Irish with a "strong Scottish influence" whatever THAT means.
Dad was born in '42 in Brighton, moved to Canada with his folks when he was 4 (just after the war was over) and has lived here since. So I got SOME English roots as well!

Todd,
Now that does make a difference! It means that when you agree with us, we'll see those English Genes shining brightly. And when your disagreeing, it will be that limited North American upbringing.
Also, when your Grandmother is refered to as being Irish with strong Scottish influences, it means she was Irish, but tight!
Dont thank me, just glad to help....

I am one quarter Scottish (maternal grandfather), one quarter Irish (paternal grandmother), one quarter East End jew turned Moseley Black-shirt (paternal grandfather), one quarter slightly dotty and very naughty girl from Beccles (maternal grandmother).
This, of course, makes me 100% English. I also live in the City closest to the centre of England, hence closer to the centre of the Universe than anybody else on this board.

I'm telling you - Port is from Portugal.

Alan, if "being tight" means the same thing in the UK as it does here, that is probably the funniest post I have read today... I just spilled onto my keyboardAlan C wrote:ToddAlso, when your Grandmother is refered to as being Irish with strong Scottish influences, it means she was Irish, but tight!
