Post by Todd Pettinger »

Well gentlemen - Derek, Alan in particular... Any explanation for these changed avatars? I found them rather amusing. What's the deal?

Todd,

Mine is only for a day or so. My Red Devil, the symbol of my Football Team, Manchester United, has gone into hiding for the day, as our bitter Rivals, Liverpool FC have jus gone through to the Champions League Final. We play tonight in the othe Semi, and it time to hide behind the Couch and watch. Fingers crossed!

Alan

PS. What do you think that dog is so keen to lick out of that bottle?

PPS. Ha,ha,ha. Over to you Derek!

Well, if that dog's tongue really were that long, might he be reaching for the XXXXXX XXXXXX at the bottom of the jar?

hehe heh... a blind XXXXXX XXXXXX tasting Derek??? Classic my man!!! Did you take this picture or is this the result of Google? There cannot be TWO people in the world with a PB fetish like Luc's and I can't imagine anyone ever setting up a tasting the likes which is suggested by your new avatar (is yours temporary as well?) :D

Todd,

My "Men in a Boat" avatar has experienced some synch trauma so has had to be temporarily removed. The stand-in avatar is indeed from a Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Offline that I attended in Uzbekistan last month. I am hoping that Julian will be able to produce a Tasting Mat for next years event

Manchester United got deservedly stuffed tonight by AC Milan in the Semi's of the Champions League. :(
So my Avatar is now the slightly sad Red Devil.
The proper one should return on Saturday when we stuff Man City to close in on the Premiership.

Most of you guys haven't got a clue what I'm on about, have you?

Alan,

As you know I declared myself an honourary Manc before tonight's game so I hope you don't mind me sharing your sad avatar for a few hours.

Without wanting to instigate some kind of Scotland v England hate rant, I have to say that I have been extremely disappointed with all three English clubs in the semi finals. It was a great achievement to get 3 clubs into the final 4 but why didn't any of them seem to be motivated enough to go out and win a game? Even Liverpool barely managed to win last night against a Chelsea team who looked like they would rather be somewhere else.

AC Milan showed tonight what passion combined with skill can achieve, the 3 English clubs didn't show any of this and I find that very strange.

Derek,

Feel free, its a time of mini-mourning. :(

Although sport is inherently unpredictable, Chelsea and United are suffering from fighting on too many fronts. The 'Other' team was as fresh as daisys and specialise in negative football. I just hope Kaka and the rest of Milan go out there and prove how 2005 was the huge fluke we all suspect.

And yes, I am bitter and twisted.

Twitter and Bisted Manc fan - never heard of that before. I sincerely hope that Liverpool win and win properly. I'm back to being a Coventry Bee (Speedway).

Alex,

"properly" - you may have to describe just how much of everyday UK-slang this word is. In the workshop I am attending right now, we have a guy from Leeds. He uses that word incessantly. I found it amusing at first and then it started growing on me. Today, I subconsciously assimilated it into a phrase and he looked at me with great fondness in his eyes and declared me an honorary member of the UK... (Does this mean I have access to all the fabulous old VP kicking around over there now???) ;)

'Properly' is a proper word. Yorkies use 'proper' as a slang for good, but I was using 'properly' properly.

No, Todd, it does not :Naughty: :Naughty: :Naughty:

Derek

PS: If the Leeds guy is still there, ask him how his football team are doing  - 5 years ago they finished 2nd (I think) in the Premiership and were playing in the European Champions League - last week they were relegated to what is know as League 1 but is really the 3rd tier of English football. They are now likely to go bust and perhaps disappear completely, much to the amusement of many people who live within 50 miles of Leeds :?

He laughed and said "this is why I don't watch football - my game is cricket. :?

He then looked like he wanted to axe-murder me so I promptly flew home! ;) :)
