I think its worth mentioning that this was supposed to be a Non Port evening, which Derek and I were determined to sneak some Port into. Anyway, the better half's have fallen by the wayside, so its now pure Port!
Anyone who's at a loose end tomorrow evening...Get your arse into gear and bring a bottle.
It will also include Romeo & Juliet and Cohiba Cigars!
Check people names, port titles and circletexts, and PM me if further changes required.
I’m in New York, but nonetheless don’t feel it too inappropriate to remind you that
jdaw1, in the manual for the Postscript program, wrote:It hardly needs saying that the finest way to thank me for this excellent product would be an invitation to your tasting! I’m particularly fond of port and Madeira (and indeed whisky, beer and other wines), but am willing to have my horizons broadened: let me check my diary… yes, that evening is good. Thank you very much indeed — what should I wear, and should I bring cheese?
Hmmm. 8am in NY is 1pm in the UK. So I have five hours to book a flight, do the one-hour journey to the airport, take a seven-hour flight, and additional travel time of unknown length. My degree in maths may be 15 years old, but I can still do that.
Mr Wiseman regretfully declines the kind invitation of Mr Turnbull.
A Romeo and Juliet Number 1 and a Cohiba Silgo V.
Its going well with our favourite of the night which is the Dow's 77.
A tough life, but somebody's got to live it!
Athough I'm sure there could be a myriad of reasons, one that stands out is that Derek decantedc our Dows 16 hours ago, so its fully intergrated and performing well. Derek said that it smelt 'Hot' when he decanted yesterday evening, but it's developed wonderfully since then. Maybe you should leave yours alone for a bit before cracking on!
How did the Dow '77 and the Warre's '80 show for you?
The Dow 77 was fabulous. I would say it is now at its peak, which surprised me a little. The warre 80 was very drinkable but for me there was still too mush tanic dryness kicking around which made me think this will improve further over time.
I dont know whether I'm a bad influence, but Derek wasn't on his best Tasting Note form last night!
This is Derek, fast asleep, with a belly full of Purple Sunshine, and a cigar still in his mouth! From his slumber he was mumbling something about...'We will fight them on the beaches..'
Anyway, a sharp dig to the ribs and a Chip Butty, supplied by the Gorgeous Deborah, revived him for a further hour!
Not quite Julian's Evening suit and meticulous organisation, but we had a ball!
