Have you had Andresen Ports, aged Tawny or VPs?

Until the end of June it had been three years since my last Andresen or close to it. I don't see much in the USA but know that in parts of the EU it is widely distributed.

So what experience do you have with this small producer of quality Ports?

I've tried 10y and 20y tawnies at the annual Port tasting here in Copenhagen and I thought they vere very good, but as far as I remember they were not among the best in their class.

I've had only the Colheita 1991, it was simple, fresh and enjoyable. Fairly priced for the quality I guess around 25$ can.

Is there much Andresen distributed by the SAQ?

The only one I've had is the 1910 Colheita. Very good I might add

Not trough the direct branches. You need to speak directly to the agency, they sometimes have some stock that they need to sell trough the "private importation" system. The SAQ gets the money, the product is not on the shelves and the agency is doing the hard work to sell to restaurants or clients like me.

But I haven't seen any since the colheita 91, they also had a vintage port from a off-year(non-declared) but I can't recall the Vintage. I did pay 25$ can for the colheita so it was a no brainer.

SAQ sells (on the shelves) at 54 $ the Andresen VP 2000 in limited quantities. Never seen though...

One of many producers whom I have heard about but not seen locally. There is apparently one specialty wine store in town that I have never visited that does have (from their website) a good selection of ports (they seem to heavily favour the tawny varieties) so when i get around to getting out there (it is a decent trek) then I may find one there.

I did see them in my brief visit to the US in May, however IIRC, it came down to buying a couple of big-name proven winners (Taylor '77, Vesuvio '94, Niepoort Colheita '76) or multiple bottles of the less-expensive 'lower tier' producers, which would present problems upon my return to Canada.

So the short answer is: no.
