The Countdown to the 2007 Port Harvest Tour

Post by Roy Hersh »

It still seems far away to me, yet in reality the trip is coming closer and closer. I am very much looking forward to meeting the group this year, some of whom are posters here. There are 9 people coming along and I think it is going to be a very memorable trip.

I think we'll wind up in perfect time for the harvest and catch some picking and other harvest related activities. Feel free to introduce yourselves as this is going to be the greatest Port offline of 2007, by leaps and bounds as the lineup is surreal (at least at this point).

If only I had some Port to sip on ...

... poor me!

So who else is going...I am :D Post here or send me a PM, as I'd love to start chatting with you before the trip.

BTW, The trip is awsome, I should know as my avatar was taken at Ramos Pinto's blending room on last years harvest tour. All those bottles (and a few more not in the picture) were all before dinner....at dinner there was more 8--) So for those going, please be prepared for some great fun and a lot of drinking :yumyum: :winebath: :drunk:

Andy,

As soon as I am finished with my project (next Wed.) I will send out an email to everyone on the trip so they can correspond ... except for the non-married young woman who is joining us.

You'll recognize some of the folks from the USA & Alberta too from FTLOP and there is one guest from another country ... that you might not recognize.

Roy, you do realize I get on a plane in less than 10 days...chop, chop  The anticipation is killing me, and so was the exchange rate when I picked up some Euros the other day  Seriously, I cannot wait to get back over there, see you guys again, meet the other Port lovers, and of course have a great time. See you all soon.

Hey Andy -

I share your excitement to head back over!

Sounds like it is going to be yet another PHENOMINAL trip. With Mr. Hersh at the helm, that should come as no surprise :D

I'm fortunate to have a little extra vacation time, so after an amazing week in Portugal, I'm heading to Italy for a week of detox - LOL

Stewart,

We have less than a week to go. Coincidentally, my brother and his wife will be in Italy at the same time as you. Instead, after Portugal ... I have chosen to head to the UK to visit with some FTLOP brethren!

I am finally able to get excited. I have also booked my plane tix at the end of last week. Now if only I could get the heck out of Puyallup! :(

To bad Mitch won't be in the Douro, I missed him when he came to LA a few weeks ago.

For those on the Tour...bring your slickers, the forcast calls for rain the first 1/2 of the week.

Not only won't I be meeting the group in Newark and taking the same flight tonight, but I have been stuck at the Seattle airport since 6:30 this morning and won't get out of here till about 4 and instead will have to go to SF then to Frankfurt, lay over for 8 hours and then get into Oporto at midnight ... missing the entire first "unofficial day" in which I arranged a great tasting at Pocas and Vinologia. I am one unhappy camper and there is not a decent thing to drink in this airport. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Aiyiyiyiee Roy,

That is not a great situation to be in. Back in the good old days of being able to carry a bottle or two onboard with you, this would not have been a problem I imagine - just crack open one of the mandatory 3 that you would have with you in carry-on for just such an emergency!! ;)

Well, hopefully a poor start means a great finish. Good luck with the remainder of the trip - look forward to hearing about some of the highlights and I have to admit, I am jealous!
