2004 Pinalta Vinho Tinta, (VQPRD) Douro - Bright magenta color with a spicy nose that offers black pepper, cinnamon, plum and a touch of vanilla. I had this with a couple of burgers earlier while it was waiting to open up for business and it paired well with the meat. Initially tight, this opened up to show its full body, chewy yet soft tannins due to the Touriga Franca dominance of 60%. The blend also contains equal parts Tinta Barroca and Tinta Roriz at 20% each. Two hours later, this youngster shows as a far more harmonious and softer wine and just needs 2-3 years in the cellar to show its best, although it is certainly approachable now. A most enjoyable Douro wine which bodes well for Pinalta, considering this is their first commercial release. Not yet available in the USA. 88+ points

Hi all.both happy and sad to say that we are nearly sold out of the 2004 pinalta
.But the good news is we are shortly going to bottle the 2005 which in my opinion will prove a worthy replacement for the 2004.2007 has been a good harvest in terms of quality and quantity and I belive it will be our best wine so far ,as it is showing greatness even now.
As a dedicated dobermann lover (my present dobe is called nelson)I saw a very interesting article about dobermann's in guam called always faithfull ,with dobermann's going into action with the troops on november 1st 1943.I know i stray a bit regarding this but further info can be found at http://www.dobermannwelfare.org.uk I like to unwind with a glass of port and my faithfull hound beside me,to quote Hippocrates "the soul is the same in all living creatures, although the body of each is different"a bit like different types of port !!.AndrewNorrie.
