1908/1938/1948/1968/1968/1978: A question for Derek et al

Post by Roy Hersh »

I know that Derek has been sitting on a bottle of the 1968 Malvedos for some years, waiting for his lovely lady Jo to reach a special birthday this year.

For Derek's woman and others born with an 8 at the end of their birth year or for those celebrating a birthday or anniversary of a friend or loved one ... what are you opening for them this year?

And for Derek in particular, beyond that Graham's Malvedos, do you have any other special bottles with an "8" date planned as well?

Edited to fix a few typos.

I have a goddaughter who reaches the age of 21 this year - that is a great excuse to open a bottle of 1987 Vargellas and see if I can get her hooked on vintage port.

I've already hooked her parents...

For my b-day this year, I plan on opening one or probably both to compare (sorta a mini-horizontal) of

1978 Croft Porto Quinta da Roeda
1978 Dow Porto Vintage Quinta do Bomfim

Of course unless some people that have some other 78's want to meet up and do a 1978 horizontal 8--) then I can easily be pursueded to open a 1988 Warre's Quinta da Cavadinha in their place and save the 78's for an offline!

Roy,

You have a good memory, Sir

I have 5 bottles of the Malvedos 68 and 1 bottle of Noval Colheita 68 but no other bottles that end in 8 (apart from some Vargellas 98, which don't count as "special")

Later this year I plan to own a 1908 for a while before enjoying it at a planned 1908 horizontal somewhere in the UK.
