TN: Blandy's 10 Year Old Malmsey

Blandy's Mamlsey 10 yo: Tawny/brown color with green olive oil rim. The nose is dominated by that allspice pumpkin pie, candied figs as well as mollasses to complete the bouquet. On the palate, the entry is sharp and sweet, again that pumpkin pie really takes the main attraction there, the balance between acidity and sweetness is great, while the acidity is taking over on the finish, it is still short. An enjoyable Madeira but I don't think we get pleasure for our bucks here at almost 50$ can for a bottle. 15.5/20

With the amount of money the SAQ and Canadian government are making on the citizens of Canada, I now understand how the country pays for its health care! In all seriousness, I was astounded by the price tag.

Of course, I should note your TN sounds right on the money to me. I prefer the Broadbent in side-by-side comparisons and even the RWC Historic Series Malmsey which is $40 US.

With all the money they are making... still it is not enough to pay for our healthcare We are in serious trouble in Quebec with that.

I'd love to get some Broadbent stuff in Quebec, I know they are well made but if it is 40$ in USA, I guess it would be 60$ here and then nobody would buy it ...

$60 CDN seems a lot to pay for the 10 year old Malmsey, but given other prices I see being paid up there ... wow!

I guess I can't say I have had the two side by side (Blandy's and Broadbent) but a couple of months apart and definitely preferred the Blandy's. (mean's nothing though - you know I have almost ZERO experience with Madeira!)

I disagree. What you preferred is important regardless of your experience. It matters that you know what you like. I'd be very interested in your results of the two tasted blind side by side though.

I would too. Not have $120 to experiment with this here in Edmonton though, this is an experiment we'll have to forego! :)
