Madeira Road Show - NYC - Sat. Oct. 18th 2008
This is very preliminary at this point. I am really hoping this is going to happen. It is far more about whether or not I can find the right venue that will be willing to allow us to bring in 16 bottles of Madeira with zero corkage and a bunch of dinner wines too. There is more to it than meets the eye.
That said, those of you who have been on FTLOP get first crack before I put this out there ... once I get a venue lined up it will be easy to fill as they all do. So, if you are interested and are sure you can make it there ... please sign up now.
I have a few people who've already been on me about this from a mention I made earlier this year, so we probably have 5 of the 16 seats already called for.

Yes, Roy, I have seen it. But as much as I love NYC, next in September 08, and already booked and confirmed Jan. 21 st 2009, I VERY MUCH, unfortunately, cannot make it.
But the thing is that on Sat. Oct. 18th we are in Machu Picchu and maybe enjoy a Pisco !!!
We'll make it one day.........

Let's just say, that I have at least as much faith in the EC getting it right as I do my fellow Americans who may have been right, but were certainly wrong the last two times! :help:
But back to Madeira, which I never consider "cheap shots" nor an easy target.

We have a venue locked and loaded for NY on Saturday, October 18th 2008. Triomphe Restaurant.
I am ready to broadcast this live in about a week or two, but will allow all FTLOPers a chance to grab seats before "others" are invited. Actually, I may just email past participants from other Madeira Road Show events and am sure all seats will go quickly that way. But again, ladies and gents here have 2 weeks. I wonder whatever happened to Heather? Anyway, this will be a rocking evening.
What do you think ... Do we do the live Fado music interlude again?

I trust you got my PM... I am definitely in!
Regarding the Fado... as much as I enjoyed it the last time around, I think, for most people, it distracted them from the wines and the wines distracted others from the Fado. Rather than complimenting each other, they tended to compete against each other, IMO.

Marco,
No worries, your spot is reserved!
Without any broadcasting beyond this post, we already have six people locked in. I've sent out personal invites to another 15 people, to fill 10 spots. Working on the menu and Fado is out.

The event sold out nicely and we have a stellar lineup of a couple of bottles from the vast majority are from the 18th century. I am looking forward to meeting a few new participants to our Madeira Road Show series. We have lots of return guests this time from all over. Should be a rather stellar evening. Immediately afterwards, I will post the entire lineup as there are still two "mystery" Madeiras showing up to this one.
I can't wait!
