I've been travelling through wine country in California last week and was near Sonoma so I stopped by Rare Wine Company to say hi and pick up a couple bottles of wine. This was one of the bottles I picked up and I've been having a small glass or two each evening after dinner. Here's a taste note.
The color is medium coffee with a dark green haze and light brown at the edge. The nose is complex with aromas of dried leaves, toffee, grapefruit, and more. The palate is medium body with medium sweetness, tingly acidity and a long pleasant finish.

Re: 1954 H&H Boal
Kris,
Nice bottle! A fine and still affordable Madeira that has a good century or more to reach its peak.
Nice tasting note and from your description, I can tell that you are enjoying it quite a bit!
