What do the madeira experts think of D'Oliveiras 15 years "Medium Sweet" or the Sweet version?

I will check TNs tomorrow, from my visit to D'Oliveiras in May. We had so many amazing bottles that afternoon, I can't remember if we tried that one at the beginning or not.

I tried the D'Oliveira's sweet or medium sweet about two years ago in Acton when Grape Moments started pushing D'Oliveira's. I thought it was very good. Buy it. I also bought the 15-year Meio Seco, which was overpriced at $57, IMHO. The D'Oliveira's wines are a good addition to the market.

At $57, that is not much of a mark up. So, you think the sweet was better?Gary Banker wrote:I tried the D'Oliveira's sweet or medium sweet about two years ago in Acton when Grape Moments started pushing D'Oliveira's. I thought that the sweet wine was better. I like verdelho and terrantez, but thought that the meio seco did not measure up to the sweet one. But that was two years ago.Moses Botbol wrote:At $57, that is not much of a mark up. Any word if they're getting a US importer?
Re: D'Oliveiras 15 years "Medium Sweet" - Opinions?
Yes, it is a local company based here in the Seattle area. I should have more information next week, when I see the rep from that company.

Do you think it is worth that price?

Moses,
I recently bought D'Oliveira's 1973 boal for $65/bottle from DePrez in New York. The importer was Aidil Wine & Liquor from New Jersey. Is this the same/affiliated distributor that you mentioned from New Bedford? If so, and they have the 1973B, it is an excellent QPR

Thanks for head's up. If I can get it a little cheaper, are you interested in some?

Yes, I would be interested. I would also like to know what other vintages or 10/15 year wines they carry. RWC does not import all of the vintages of madeira that are being produced
