Arg! Fed Ex
Just found out that Fed Ex has screwed up a shippment for me. It was three bottles of D'Oliviera 1905 Verdelho. Somehow, in Phoenix, the box got crushed. It was a stout styro shipper. It was sent back to the shipper who determined one bottle was broken. They're going to clean up the remaining two bottles, ship them again, and credit my account for the loss. Excellent service on their part; still, I'd rather have the third bottle, especially since it's so good. Arg!

Thats horrible
. I was lucky as this last shipment I just got one of the styro shippers was totally, and I mean totally, destroyed. I opened it thinking something had to be broken, leaking, etc. I was relieved to find that although the styro was crushed into many pieces, it did its job and not a single bottle was damaged. That was the worst I've ever had a shipper arrive.

Oh no! Is this the lot you won at the HDH auction? How sad... to be in cask.. and then in bottle for over 100 years.... and then some FedEx guy breaks you.Eric Ifune wrote:It was three bottles of D'Oliviera 1905 Verdelho.
I'm really sorry to hear that. As you well know it's superb.

Sorry to hear of your loss Eric. I know you surely would rather have the other bottle than your money back.
Yes a stellar bottling of which I only have one left. I last opened this at one of the Road Show events. I love it and it has been kept below $300 for many years, don't know current pricing though.
On another wine website, I saw that DHL is supposedly closing down their domestic operations. I don't know if that is true or not. Anyone else here that?

Hi Roy,
DHL is ending domestic express service within the US on I believe Jan. 29, 2009. They will continue international deliveries going to and from the US as before. I believe the company will be closing about 80% of its offices as a result.

DOn't think I've ever used DHL to have wine shipped within the US. Almost all that I've recieved are either UPS or FedEx. I"m not sure how many wineries/stores use it to ship wine in the US.Ray Barnes wrote:Hi Roy,
