I guess you finally have a decent football team. For all of you who need to be educated, La Verne and the Claremont Colleges are part of the Southern California Intercollegate Atheletic Association, along with Whittier (Richard Nixon's alma mater), Occidental (where Barak Obama took some classes), and Cal Tech.I actually when to Univ. of La Verne. down the street....Go Phi Delt's

Well, I don't know about that. The football team was never really great that I remember but i dont know how they are doing now. I went to homecoming but we left the game in favor of the bar a block down
Now the volleyball used to be awsome. Matter of fact they were Div-1! And even managed to win a number of championships. Then the administration in their oh-so-stupid wisdom decided to get rid of the only sport that actually won

I believe they actually won the SCIAC championship last year. Haven't seen how well they've been doing this year.

No I haven't. I've been so busy this year I've not had time to follow it. And at Homecoming this year it was the annual Fraternity reunion, so the talk quickly degenerated to laughing about the college days and the stupid stuf we did and got away with while drinking as much beer at the bar as we could :twisted:Eric Ifune wrote:I believe they actually won the SCIAC championship last year. I lived in Claremont for quite awhile.....nice town. I was also accepted to attended the Claremont Colleges (Pitzer) for my undergraduate studies, but I choose to attend another University. Thanks for the heads up, if my schedule allows, I'm really going to try to make it to this tasting.

Re: Port Tasting in Claremont, Ca. Dec 12-13
Just a small update.
I talked to the owner and it will be two days, each day being a different type of Port. One day will most likely be comparing two different 10, 20, and 30 year old tawny's side by side (6 Ports total) to see the different producer styles. The other day will be the same (around 6 bottles) but of VP from a particular year (possibly 1994 or 1997). I am helping him get it finalized, so when that happens I'll update it here ASAP.

The 1977 Rocha Colheita is superb! Looks like it's going to be a great tasting.
