Witch is the best way to get into Port?

Post by Dannstrom »

Hi,

I had my first glass of Port last summer, it was a Sandeman Founders Reserve, and I was hooked. After that I tried a few different Ports some that I liked more and some less. It is hard to get a big range of Ports where I live but I’ve tried a few LBV’s and Rubys. I think I get the basic difference between Tawny, Ruby, LBV and Vintage (in theory) all I know I have read on the internet. I haven’t triad a Tawny yet but I plan to as soon as possible. My question is what should I do and what knowledge should I get to get the most out of my Port sipping?

Best Regards

Hello Carl.
Welcome to the world of Port! I think to get the most, it helps to try different wines side by side. That way any differences really become more apparent. You might try a range of similar wines together, or conversely a range of different styles next to each other.
