Hi,
I am pretty sure Roy has answered my question before, but I don't have access to my old e-mails. Anyway, I might be whizzing by Seattle on a quick ski trip and wanted to know if there was a wine shop with good Port price/selection (close to I-5 if possible - don't have time for a lengthy detour downtown...)

I was going to say that there really isn't any great pricing here in the Seattle area at all. However, there IS good availability. And ... in comparison to pricing and avail. in Montreal, this might look like paradise. That said, I never buy Port locally and if I do ... it is once every couple of years. I always buy from elsewhere as our prices in WA suck compared to most places. But we have no State income taxes and that has a lot to do with the "luxury taxes" here. Cigars are taxed 129% or something very similar. Crazy! Wine is also inherently high because of this.
A more direct answer is: within a 5-10 minute detour from 1-5, my first choice would be: The Spanish Table. Second place would be Esquin's, but it is a distant 2nd place.

for the advice. You are right that the prices are stupid, overall probably more expensive than here with the USD at 1.30. Still, I managed to pickup a Noval 2003 and a Croft 2000 for 60-65$ a bottle which is not too bad. The Spanish Table does have an interesting selection and I also went to The Wine Cellar (?) north of downtown on 45th if I remember well (I got the Croft there). Funny is that they had the Noval 03 @ 95$ when I paid 65$ for it 5 minutes before at the Spanish Table.
I'll try to be less of a stranger in the future (I need 26 hour days...)
