Francisco
First let me welcome you to
. I hope you the site to your likening and become a regular visitor and poster here. Dont' worry, your English is just fine...far better than my knowledge of a second language.
As for you're question, yes they are the same wine, from the same vintage, etc. However, they can look, taste, and smell a bit different from each other. As Colheita's are often bottled at different times, as you found out, they can and will change during that extra time the remaining stock is left in barrels. During the gap the non-bottled wine is left in wood casks to continue aging, then it is bottled XX number of years later.
The price can be different based on market trends, the economy, how rare the Port is, and demand, etc.
Hope that helps and I do hope you become a regular visitor.....Where are you from?

Hi Francisco,
Glad to have you join us here at
!
Andy gave you a great answer to your question.
Would you please let us know if the bottle's label mentions the date it was bottled.
Thanks, and I am looking forward to hearing how you enjoyed drinking this Colheita at some point. Do you drink much in the way of Port, in general?

Hello, thank you by your answer, I understood perfectly what you said in your comment. I live in Lisbon - Portugal, but I have fallen in love with the Douro and his Port. Initially I interested myself only in the Ports Vintage, but after a presentation on the ports with the Eng. Bento do Amaral of the IVP, I gained interest also for Tawny and Colheita, it is also an extraordinary world of fragrances and tastes. I do also collection of Wine of Oporto Vintage, at this moment I have around 250 bottles, principally of the declared years - 1994, 1997,2000, 2003 now also someone of 2004 and 2005 and another years. I like very much the Quinta do Vesuvio, Quinta do Portal, Quinta do Vale Meão, there are many marks that I still had not the pleasure to try. I try more possivel to be present in proofs and presentations on the port, it is a incrivel passion.
Thank you very much, for your answer.

Re: Port Colheita
Francisco,
Wow, you are well on your way to a great cellar of VP's already! I am glad you discovered Tawny's and Colheita's as they are really overshadowed by VP in terms of how much coverage VP gets and how little Colheita's get.
The three Quintas you mentioned are excellant producers and made very nice VP's. I've been lucky enough to have visited all three, Portal and Vesuvio on multiple occassions, and they are beautiful properties. Portal in the morning, with the sun rising, and a little fog is an awsome site...one I drug my tired and hungover body out of bed to see a couple years ago. But it was worth every second of it.
If I can ask a favor, when you try things can you post your tasting notes or impressions in the Tastin Note Section of the forum so other members benefit from it. Thanks
