Heather and/or others who weren't even along for the experience, did you enjoy the read? I enjoyed recounting that trip for sure.
BTW, I have spoken to Mario about my idea that in 2010, for our 5th anniversary of going to Madeira, we are going to pull out all the stops on the FORTIFICATION TOUR (either in May or June ... not sure yet) and will do a "greatest hits" version with the best itinerary we've ever done, picking the finest oldies available in Madeira to include -- and even the Port side of the trip is going to be phenomenal. Madeira lovers, this will be THE best trip we've ever done and that is saying a lot!

I am going to try to read the last two issues of the newsletter and look forward to this report in particular.

I read the article and want to go on record and say that for my literary taste it is the best thing Roy has ever done in a newsletter. I could not resist the urge to grab my Malmsey bottle and drink right out of it without a glass. Very fine photography and exceedingly informative - I made notes about the island's total production, very limited as it is outside of (T)NM. This was clearly a labour of love. I'll give the article 98 points. Had I been able to participate in the tour, the score would have been higher. Something to look forward to. Thank you Roy.

Yes! The acticle was amazing! In fact, the whole newsletter was so extensive and jam-packed with info, I could hardly believe it.
Great job!!

I loved those photos of the row after row of elixir-filled, white-stencilled, black vertical bottles - which was partially responsible for the impromptu drink here - and the kid in the candy store moment. Great stuff indeed.
