[Madeira @ Plumpjack's (San Francisco)]: It was nice to revisit this wine, not having had it for some time now. Still a consistant, wonderful wine. Dark cola-colored. Sound acids. Fantastic persistence and intensity. It's hard to belive the D'Oliveira version of the 1875 Malvazia is better. This was bottled in 2000. (94)

[Madeira @ Citizen Cake (San Francisco)]: Dark and caramelish brown in color, slight greenish tinge on the edge. Beautifully nutty nose, with hints of coffee, toffee and walnuts. Creamy entry, but rapier like acidity leaves a clean, tangy finish. Very persistent on the palate. This wine is 125 years young. (94)

[Madeira @ Patroon (NYC)]: (Rare Wine Company Madeira Tasting @ Patroon, NYC) Medium honey brown color. Orange zest and coffee on the nose. Sweet and luscious, but good “citrus squirt” acidity to keep it from being cloying. Delicate for a Malvasia, with a beautiful finish. Excellent. (94)
