Vesuvio production

Post by Tom Archer »

Looking at a few stats, it appears that of all the wine made at Vesuvio, only about 20% gets bottled as Vesuvio VP

I wonder what becomes of the rest of it?

Is it now a major component of Smith Woodhouse, Gould Campbell, and Quarles Harris - the three Quinta-less houses also under the Symington umbrella?

Or is the world to be presented with a 20yr old Vesuvio Tawny in a few years time?

- Anyone know??

I know I've read the answer to this somewhere - I think it was an article about the 2002 vintage and explained what happened to the Vesuvio juice that year.

But I can't for the life of me remember for certain what the article said - I think I remember it saying that the wine went to the Symington reserves for blending.
