So the first game of two with Bosnia Herzegovina went well, next one on the 18th. And then it is on to South Africa... well that's the plan anyway.

It was an exciting game. I'm beginning to think Portugal plays better without Cristiano Ronaldo...

was strange to see that he didn't cheer when his team mates scored... Portugal has always had problems with the " stars" and "the rest" working together.... very disappointing to see millionaires act that way.

I glad someone else noticed this. While Figo seemed to cheer his country on, and Eusébio always is enthusiastic, Ronaldo seemed almost bored to be there. Very odd...

It was great to see Portugal qualify for the finals in Suth Africa next year. The draws for the groups are next week... hopefully we don't get a "group of death"...

Hi there,

yeah and hopefully not Greece again either...

I'm not to optomistic... I don't think the chemistry and morale is there...at that level of competition, you need that tangibles (talent, hard work, discipline, goalie, coach and stricker) and the intangibles (mind, spirit, luck, health, attitude ) to be present. 199 days is all that is left to crank it up. I won't be betting any port bottles on this one.

I'll cheer for them but I don't expect much. They are currently ranked 5th in the world but looking at who is in 6-10, they could beat Portugal on any day if they wanted. If you are top 5, then it should be very hard to beat you. You have to have consistency and that is what Portugal lacks.

I hope they prove me wrong.

I agree with you on all points. Frankly I was shocked that FIFA has Portugal at #5... ahead of Germany? ahead of England? Portugal was out of the top 10 not long ago!

I'll be cheering them on... I just hope the chemistry and teamwork come together. To their credit, they seem to play better when up against a "big" team. It's the minnows that worry me.
