Noval 2003 Offered At $44.99 Per Bottle

Post by Theo Z. »

Gary's Wine in New Jersey (with which I have no affiliation) is offering Noval 2003 vintage port at $44.99 per bottle. Ground shipping is $1 per bottle if you order 6 bottles and free if you order 12. From what I can tell, it looks like they have a good 50 or so cases available! This is a wonderful port which can be enjoyed even today, although I have no doubt that it will be even more terrific in 10-20 years!

A great deal so grab what you can afford...and then some. Glad I already got my 2 cases of it the last time I saw this pricing.

And just FYI, this deal is due to the old importer clearing out inventory as they no longer import it. So don't expect this pricing one they are gone...buy now folks.

Amen. This epitomizes "no brainer" as this is one of the great VPs of 2003 and is up there with Fonseca, Portal, Niepoort and Vesuvio to name just a few others in this very same exalted league.

Thanks Theo, this is a price I doubt we'll see again as Andy mentioned. I guess there's no hurry but still, if you are in the market for some cellar worthy juice ...

I really wish I had a real cellar. :( Having to store everything in a wine fridge really limits my ability to take advantage of opportunities like this one.

I already have a case of this juice, but I'd buy another one (or two) if I had room for it.

Maybe it's time to check into Seattle Wine Storage or something similar...

Glenn, I also use a wine fridge, but it's a smaller one. Granted I don't have a lot of older VP's in quantity, so I keep most of them in the fridge (holds about 60), but all my cases I just keep in a closet in my basement. If you have a basement closet or crawlspace (or space under stairs) I would think that would be a good medium-term solution for newer VP's from the 90's to today to rest up. My basement temperature is always on the cool side and doesn't fluctuate a lot.

My problem with this offering is I just made a nice purchase and now want to make this one. Now I remember partly why I took a break from Port for a bit... :/ Still, that's a really good price... ugh

It should be noted that the retailer also has some other really good sales going on as well. Or at least some fairly deep discounts off their regular prices for some stuff. Not sure how they look put in context of the rest of the market, but worth a look at anyway.

JBR,

I could have sworn I saw you there, and was surprised you didn't come over and say hi, as that was my daughter growing out of my shoulders that morning.

Derek aptly calls it, "A slippery slope" which of course it is. Later on, you'll need, a 12-step intervention called (PBA) Port Buyers Anonymous.

Just bought more (already have plenty in the cellar, but can't say no to this price).
