Pick some Croft?
I'm thinking of doing a vertical of Croft and have 1970, 1977, 1991, 1994, and 2005 Quinta do Roeda. If you could only serve three, what would they be? What about four? I am pretty sure about the 1970 and 1991, but not so sure after that.
Re: Pick some Croft?
For me this is a very easy exercise. The 1970 is gorgeous, the 1977 is the weakest Port vintage in your lineup and I would not include it. The 1991 is always a welcome VP in my book too. I'd also welcome the 2005 Croft's Quinta da Roeda which I have had just four times so far, with three 94 point scores and one of 95 (although the TNDB is wrong showing it at 85 ... which is incorrect when checking the original article that TN came from). The 1994 I'd leave as the odd one out in a mini vertical of 3 and would include if you want to show 4; however, I definitely prefer the 1991 to the 1994 and the earlier vintage surely shows better today.

It looks like we will have enough people for four bottles, and given Roy's suggestion, the 1977 will be dropped.

As Roy mentioned, 1977 is not one Croft's best efforts as is 1985. 1991 is great and more approachable than 1994. If it were up to me, I would look for a 1963 Croft and keep it 1963, 1970, and 1991; as those are the best Croft's during that era.

I've had the 1963, but won't be able to get another by this weekend. Thank-you though for the recommendation.
