I had a wonderful duck dinner tonight with some fellow wine geeks here in L.A. and one of them brought this Napa "port." It's made from 100% Petite Sirah grapes and is listed at 17% ABV. I have no idea if this is actually fortified or more along the lines of a late harvest wine. But from the nose and palate I would guess this isn't fortified, then again I could be wrong. Simple, ripe bosenberry with no noticeable tannins don't offer up much in the complexity department or the finish. Nonetheless it's still a decent bottle with no apparent flaws and offers a "no brainer" bottle of vino. I have no idea the cost, but if it's about $15/bottle or less then it falls in line with other bottles in this price range.
