And ... they supposedly have a nice pile of it there now, too!

Have at it. : )

I just did a quick search and found it for $16.99!? at a place in New Jersey. I don't know anything about them, and due to laws can't order from them. But here's that link: http://www.budgetbottle.com/product.aspx?Item=5999

Check that... it looks like they only don't ship to AK HI NH PA, as per their site.

Steve, give 'em a call tomorrow. We should place a $1 bet that it is a misprint and is a 375 ml bottle at that price. I still love winesearcher, but this is what I am talking about in the "sticky" first thread in this forum area.

If that's for a 750 bottle, and they have it in stock for that price, please let me know. I'll buy another 2 cases for a daily sipper!!

But somehow I think this is either a 375 or a total misprint.

I'll bet it is a 375 also.

I just received an offer from a local retailer that makes me believe there is some clearing out of the Delaforce going on. Having not tried any, should I have any worries about buying some vintages from the 80's or before?

I had a 1985 leaker that would have been disappointing at full price, but I got what I paid for. I don't know if a good bottle would be great or not. I don't think Roy scored the 1977 very high. It is not a name I would jump on, but I've bought a few recent bottles.

The reason you guys are seeing the bold clearance sales are that in 2001, Delaforce and Croft were purchased by The Fladgate Partnership. They wound up selling off Delaforce last year, to a company that had a great presence with the countries where Delaforce was stronger. That news broke on FTLOP's Forum, so you can check here and find it on our Port forum area. I assume distributors here in the USA only carried Delaforce at the time, becase it helped them secure bigger allocations of other wines they wanted: Taylor and Fonseca with Croft far above the reputation of Delaforce. I've not been impressed with their VPs but some of their Colheitas are good.

I sent them an email after placing the order. They just got back to me today, via email, saying that they've sold out so the order was canceled.

Steve,
Bummer. But I would guess they may have never had these in stock to begin with or it was a misprint for a 750 and they realized it.

edit: I just saw the website and they list the country as Italy  [dash1.gif]
Country: Italy

No kidding. I would be a generic bottle that just said "2000 Vintage Port" at $24.00. Never mind a historic house which is on the fast track to their former glory. When I see thier OWC's I get the feeling like I have the country's offical port.

Moses,

Please elaborate on this statement. First Delaforce was "dumped" (sold off) by The Fladgate Partnership a year or so ago and at least from where I sit, their 2007 VP was one of the least impressive of the vintage. So I would appreciate if you could explain. You are certainly entitled to your fine opinion, I'd just like to understand what you are basing this on. [shrug.gif]

A similar story as Sandeman. For maybe 20 years, no one was excited over their vintages and from 1994+, they have made a better name for themselves.

I'm a bit late responding here, but per Delaforce:

I had their 1986 Colheita once and I thought it was pretty good.
