It has been a while since we had a VT with a Tawny Port, for this month, lets try some 20 year old Tawny bottling.

Stricty 20 Year Old Tawnies, or any Tawny (including Colheitas) with at least 20 years of age?
Just curious, as I have both readily available.

20 Year Old Tawny Port by Warre's Otima
A little slow this month...come on people I know these are cheap and easy to find.
20 Year Old Tawny Port by Warre's Otima
Since I needed something to dull the pain of my road rash this seemed like the perfect choice. It was about 82º (28º Celsius) in Los Angeles yesterday so I tossed it into the fridge and chilled it down first. Quite refreshing with it's good acidity, dried nuts, and maple. Since it was cold the nose wasn't giving up a lot, but I've this enough to know it already smells good I've always been a fan of this one and this bottle was no different

I did open a 20 yo Fonseca, I'll try to write something, but the Portuguese producers are in town for the next few days, so I'm busy

Here's an actual 20 Year Old Tawny, just to cover that base, but I'll also be posting another bottle of something older later once I get around to processing my notes from a tasting I just attended in NYC.

This bottle from earlier this month also qualifies:

I have had a couple this month:
Warre's Otima 20 year old Tawny and a "gassed" bottle of Ferreira Duque de Braganca by Ferreira that my brother had, literally on tap. I preferred the Otima in this shoot out.

Graham's 20 Year Tawny
Pop-n-pour from a half bottle. I immediately notice a pleasant alcohol aroma, a brandy with slight pleasant must. Color is amber to red, surprisingly red to me for a tawny of this age. Some brown on the edge. Very clear. Tangy aroma in the glass, dried orange peel. Still some alcohol, but not too strong or unpleasant.
Medium body, slight stickiness in the mouth. Some red fruit, maybe dried strawberry up front. Mild heat going down. Medium to medium-short finish.
This is quite pleasant, but I have had some 10 year old tawnies that I think were just as good, and colheitas for just a little bit more $ that were more interesting. This just doesn't seem all that complex to me. 89 points right now. It still has a slight chill, and might open up. We'll see.

Here's one more, though I think this bottle was probably damaged. Almost makes me wonder if this might have been one of the bottles that had the industrial aguardente in it, but I thought all of those were destroyed?
