Anyone outside the U.S. with a paypal account?
I'm participating in a focus group on using paypal internationally and I need to send $5.00 to somebody today. You'll keep the money and I'll just need an email back on whether receiving the money is easy or not. I know this sounds a little odd, but I posted this at the FTLOP board because its the place I know with the most non-US citizens.
thanks,
Dylan

Good luck Dylan!
This may be the oddest use of FTLOP I've ever seen in nearly 5 years! Congratulations.

Glad to be of assistance, Roy. Perhaps it is the last glass from a magnum of Vesuvio 06 that I am drinking right now that inspired me

He needs you to help him withdraw 10 million euros from his bank account. All you have to do is go to Western Union...Derek T. wrote:I have a PayPal account and live in the UK. Please tell me you don't live in Nigeria

I hate PP, those SOB's keep coming up new BS to keep my money. I was banned for accepting money for a cigar and they froze my balance for 6 months...

Dylan,
As you can probably imagine asking for help sending money on any chat forum raises huge red flags, even if those intentions are honorable. Maybe a bit more explanation as to who you are, who you work for, etc. will elicit someone's help. But there is so much internet related money fraud it won't be an easy sell. Just being honest and up front

Re: Anyone outside the U.S. with a paypal account?
Sorry for any consternation. I found someone on a cigar forum I frequent to send the $5.00 to. I'm a lawyer in Atlanta and the transfer had nothing to do with my job. I occasionally participate in focus groups with the Murray Hill Center here in Atlanta basically because I find them interesting (and the provide some pocket money for my trouble). This focus group was about Paypal. I suspect Paypal is trying to improve their international money transfer business and are probably planning on advertising it more heavily. The sole purpose of the transfer was to see if the folks in the focus group had any problem sending money out of the U.S. It was a free $5.00 to whomever was willing to help, but I probably would have responded to the offer with the same concerns you guys did, given the nature of internet and bank security these days.
As an aside, I know I'm brand new to the group. I am very interested in port. Frankly, I would be posting more if there already wasn't such a wealth of knowledge in the forums and the TNs. I always search before posting a new post and so far all of my questions have been answered. I really look forward to contributing more as my knowledge and experience grows. Thanks!

Sorry Derek, I didn't see this in time. I've never even been to Nigeria. Closest was a day trip to Tangiers while on a two week trip in Spain.

I got banned and my assets frozen from PP on cigars. Had to open under different ID and bank account. Now they hold money after an EBay sale. What cigar forums do you frequent?Dylan Howard wrote:Sorry for any consternation. I found someone on a cigar forum I frequent to send the $5.00 to. I've used paypal for a number of cigar transactions, but I guess I've just gotten lucky. My main cigar home on the web is the cigarweekly.com forums.
