Historic Barbeito Madeira Event

Post by Roy Hersh »

Short notice came out today for a remarkable and historic tasting along with the owner of The Rare Wine Co. and Barbeito's Ricardo DeFreitas.

I don't know how many availabilities are still left, but I'd advise a phone call and email to try to lock in a spot. If you are able to obtain a seat at the table ... please let others from FTLOP know ... here in this thread and it will be nice to be able to meet.

Roy,
I'm looking forward to the event, but will be arriving Sunday AM just before time and leaving shortly thereafter. I look forward to chatting with other FTLOP members during the tasting.

I'm in! Can't wait for Friday 3/19. :D [cheers.gif] [dance2.gif]

Steve, you mentioned Sunday. Is there a second event, or am I missing something?

Steve,
I'm attending a tasting on Sunday, March 14. It's great that there will be multiple opportunities -- more folks to compare notes with.

I'll be at the Sunday tasting on 3/14.

I told Riedar about this, who will be in NYC during this timeframe (great timing on his part); hopefully he can attend as well.

I am in the Friday tasting, due to getting in early ... had I known there was a Sunday availability... which was added later, I would have definitely done that instead.

The good news about going on Friday is that I will finally get to meet Steve Pollack who is coming on this year's Fortification Tour. [cheers.gif]

The bad news is that I'll miss seeing Marco and Steve Shapiro. :(

It will be great to finally meet you Roy. :D

Now I have to figure out a way to meet Andy. I just hope it is not as expensive!

Sunday would have been a better day, but New York is much less convenient for me than San Francisico, so I'm happy the way it is.

I did not know that Sunday was in NY until just talking to Mannie. I figured it would in in SF too, but it certainly makes more sense to do a bi-coastal tasting!

Actually, although a much longer flight, at least I wouldn't have to seek out a hotel if it was in NY, as I have family there. I am going to wait until next week to check out air/hotels etc. These one night stand's are expensive. 8--) The things we do for the love of Madeira.

I wish I could make this, but I'm heading to the UK for a deep Malvedos tasting a few days after this event and I can't do both. :(

Steve, one day our paths will finally cross!

What .... not a single comment from the folks who were there last Sunday? Amazing! [dash1.gif]

It was great to meet Steve Pollack and see my friend Richard Jennings again at the Friday night version. Ricardo and Mannie did a fine job and the wines were pretty stellar. Less than 2 months to go. :salute:
