20 Year Old Tawny Port by Dow's

Post by Lester Lee »

First tasting note on FTLOP!

Bright orange, almost marmalade color with long legs, slightly viscous. Nose seems subdued, non-alcoholic with slight hints of citrus, no hint of alcohol unless I'm pressed deep inside the glass.

Pleasant first sip but with a lighter body than I'm used to - citrus theme remains and seems to cut through the body in an unfavorable way. Very slight heat on the finish/back of my palate. Looked for other flavors with successive pours (caramel, vanilla, toffee, coffee, dried fruit, etc.) but was very hard pressed to find them. Maybe I'll leave the bottle open for a few hours and come back to it later. Right now it just tastes a little simple and light.

Overall, it's nice and drinkable, but not as deep as I'd like. If I had to give it a rating, 87/100.
