Well, I'll start with the Noval Ports
Noval 2003 : Back in October I found it too tanic to appreciate it young. Now this wine is a real charm. It has so much jammy fruit, delicious structure. I'm pouring around 5 bottles per day of this, people come twice to taste it!
20 year old tawny : Silky and complex, a meditation port.
Colheita 86 : A bit more obvious than the 20 year, it has more fruit and sugar on the entry, but clearly less complexity and lenght. Though this was our biggest seller, we were sold out on Friday, I did not have the time to buy some.
Dow's 2003 : Wow this wine as so much extraction, really the nose is not typical for a Dow's but on the finish the strong dry tannins comes and reminds you that this is definitively a Dow's!
Warre's 2003: Again an amazing port. I prefered to the Dow's. The nose is so great, floral, spices and cassis liqueur. The mouth is showing so nice tannins grain, and a very very long spicy finale tipical to Warre's in its youth. I'll clearly buy more of this.
Ferreira 2003 : I define Ferreira as the Burgundy of Port. It ages so well and to the opposite of others houses, it is not because of its concentration. Right now its showing nice extraction, lots of jammy fruits but showing this fresness and floral notes that Ferreira always achieve to charm us.
Ferreira 1960: I already tasted 2 times this week-end. A pure joy! So fresh, complex and balanced. They are reminding us why it is so rewarding to wait for Vintage Port.
Burmester 2003: I was very surprised by this one. No a deep and concentrated Port but very well crafted one. Very floral, nice pure fruit and tannins are showing nice grain. It will probably be a early maturer but it will be interesting to drink it while we wait for the top 2003.
Burmester Colheita 1997 : I was disapointed with their 1991 but this 1997 is really well made, nice dried fruit and floral notes. Unfortunately, no more 1963 colheita left in the bottle
Casa Burmester Douro Reserve 2002 : For less than 20$ this douro red is now my top 1 QPR from the Douro. Its pure fruit with nice floral notes, mouth is full of fruit and tannins are giving you nice structure for a wine in this price range.
As soon as I have some time I'll put links to pictures and I'll try to give more detailed notes as I've tasted few others products from Portugal. I realy focused on them and Burgundy this year.
