I really like the Anime and Zenato Valpolicellas. Extremely inexpensive, and very tasty.

Anime may be hard to get as they have recently had their importer go out of business. I hope they get a new importer soon.

Oh yeah, there's nothing like Amarone. I love Italian wines in general, there's something special about them. Very often great value too.

Mmmmmmmm. My friend the sommelier teaches wine classes and for one of the introductory classes, I teach two hours of beer. In exchange, she prepares a wonderful dinner for my wife and me. The last one featured Amarone and several of its variations along with the traditional dish of Pastissada de Caval, although she used beef instead of the traditional horse meat.

Kappy's (Boston area liquor chain) has a great selection of Amarone that I think they import. I too love italian wines!

I was fortunate to do a tasting with an importer/agent on Friday night and in addition to 2007 Rhones, some current Burg, German Riesling etc., we had a slew of Tuscany, Brunello, Barolo, and Veneto wines too. The following afternoon I tried Mazi and Zenato Amarone and Valps. Lots of fun. One can never have enough of these in their cellar.
